The information has been obtained from printed
timetables and other local sources (like taking the bus) and is
given in good faith.
Everything is correct to the best of my knowledge as of 14th May
2013.
Beware there is one discrepancy between the
information posted at the airport and that on the official
website!

SPECIAL NOTE - the ONLY scheduled public transport
at Faro Airport are local buses, routes 14 and 16, as below.
For ALL OTHER DESTINATIONS in the Algarve, it is necessary to make
your way either to Faro railway station or Faro bus station (the
local buses stop outside both) and then take the train or another
bus.
Faro city centre map showing
location of bus and rail stations.
Separate tickets are needed for local and long
distance journeys. Please allow plenty of time at Faro bus station
when buying a ticket. You cannot buy tickets for journeys in the
Algarve on line.
Fare is €1.95 - pay the driver

If you are unlucky with the bus times, there is a taxi rank at
the Bus Station. A Taxi to the airport will cost you about €10.
Buses also stop outside the Railway
Station about 1 minute after leaving the bus station. The stop
at the station is across the square to the right as you exit the
station.
Buses also stop outside the Forum Algarve shopping centre,
across the road for the bus stop for services from Loulé,
Quarteira, Vilamoura and Albufeira. If you are tight for time
and don't mind crossing a busy road, you can make your
connection here. Otherwise your bus takes you into town and some
time later your bus to the the airport will take you back
the same way. Buses stop at the Forum Algarve about FIVE minutes
after leaving the Bus Station.
This is Faro Urbanas Bus 14 towards Atalaia or Bus 16

the Airport Terminal Building, under the right hand roof-type
structure in front of you as you exit the main building, where
taxis also wait.

Again, if you are unlucky with the bus times there is a taxi rank
to the right when you are outside the terminal. A taxi to the
train or bus station will cost about €10.
Special note : on arrival at the Faro Bus Terminal from the
airport, you must buy your next bus ticket at the ticket
window inside the building. Allow at least 10 minutes for this, as
queues are often long and there is always someone in front of you
with some complex transaction.
Buses stop near the railway station
about 1 minute before the time at the Bus Station. Ask the
driver to tell you when you reach that stop, as it is not all
that obvious. The first time you might see a train you are in
fact some distance from the station entrance.
Buses also stop outside the Forum Algarve shopping centre,
across the road from a bus stop for services towards Loulé,
Quarteira, Vilamoura and Albufeira. If you are tight for time
and don't mind crossing a busy road, you can make your
connection here. Otherwise the local bus takes you into town and
some time later your bus to Albufeira etc will take you back the
same way. Buses stop at the Forum Algarve about THIRTEEN minutes
after leaving the airport.
