Reminder - Tuesday 17th February is Carnaval (Shrove Tuesday) although not an official holiday it is treated as such by railways and buses. They will run to Sunday times.
WARNING!! Contactless card payment is NOT accepted on buses in the Algarve except on the 'Proximo' buses in Faro city. A pre paid pass for VAMUS regional buses is obtainable at bus stations which reduces fares on their buses by around 30%. There is also an 'app' based account for VAMUS regional buses which can be used to the same effect. Local buses around the big towns have their own tickets and passes.
